Being in a developing economy, there are numerous projects underway. One of the major infrastructure development projects in India is currently the Bharatmala Pariyojana, introduced in 2015 and still active. With the motive of connecting 550 district headquarters, which stood at 300 at the start of this project, and expanding 50 minimum 4-lane highways from the current 6. This project aims to move 80% of freight from the 40% through national highways. Let’s know more about this plan and how this will benefit Gurgaon.
BHARATMALA PARIYOJANA

Mapped out on 31 July 2015, this initiative by the Government of India is the stepping stone towards the New India. This project prime focus is on improving the efficiency of goods and people throughout the nation, with 50 national highways connecting with 550 districts throughout the national highway linkage. So far, this Yojana has progressed a lot with Dwarka Expressway being fully constructed, Dwarka Expressway tunnel running trial runs, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway being functional for more than 700 km, while 1150 km of the corridor is being fully constructed from the projected 1600 km. Not only this, but this project also involves balancing road work under the NHDP, which will be around 10,000 km of road work, making the Phase I of this project being to a whole stretch of 34,800 km with an estimated budget of ₹5,35,000 crores.
BHARATMALA PARIYOJANA: BENEFIT FOR GURGAON

With the Dwarka Expressway being fully functional, the Mumbai Expressway being accessible, and now the Dwarka Expressway tunnel being operational on trial runs, Gurgaon is benefiting in a lot of ways.
With great infrastructure comes real estate opportunities, and Dwarka Expressway is booming with that. With builders like M3M, Signature Global, Elaan, and many more bringing their projects to this corridor.
Mumbai-Delhi Expressway is also a corridor for real estate, while also increasing goods transfer, as well as opening possibilities of new IT sectors, with Signature Global Daxin already giving IT/SEZ plots being just 5 mins away from the Expressway.
Improving the traffic situation with the bulk of traffic being diverted towards Dwarka Expressway, reducing the congestion at NH48 on the Delhi-Gurgaon border. It will also ease the volume of vehicles for faster connectivity towards Jaipur.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
While the Bharatmala Pariyojana is in full swing, the opportunities it creates are astounding, with premium projects all over, better connectivity, and great connectivity.
